Lake Butler was founded in 1859 and named after Colonel Robert Butler, Florida’s first Surveyor General. But our story runs deeper than dates, it’s etched into the grit of turpentine camps, the sawdust of mill towns, and the quiet strength of families who built lives from the ground up.
From the formation of Union County in 1921 to landmarks like the Townsend Building and the courthouse square, each era has left its mark, not just in brick and timber, but in the values we still live by: hard work, faith, and front-porch wisdom passed down through generations.
